An accomplished listee, Dr. Patel celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Patel is a retired captain who served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps from 1976 to 1998. During his service, he became a staff nephrologist for the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1993, where he continues to treat patients. Additionally, Dr. Patel has found success as the chief executive officer at Russ & Associates LLC since 2022.

Recognized as an expert in internal medicine and nephrology, Dr. Patel's career in health care also included appointments as an internist with the U.S. Navy, director of the Naval Medical Center of Portsmouth, Virginia, and national program director for renal diseases, diabetes, and oncology with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Dr. Patel taught as an adjunct associate professor of medicine at the Uniformed Services of the Health Sciences in Bethesda.

Dr. Patel was deployed four times during his distinguished tenure in the U.S. Navy. He also served as the director responsible for developing plans and policies for the practice of medicine in all naval ship classes. Additionally, he supported the U.S. Marine Corps as the director of medical services at the Fleet Hospital Five in Saudi Arabia. Among other accomplishments, Dr. Patel created a new department called the Surface Warfare Medical Institute.

Dedicated to civil work, Dr. Patel has been chairing the Sevak Foundation Inc. in Virginia since 2012. An evidenced-based project, Sevak improves health education and sanitation conditions in rural communities worldwide, prevents chronic disease, and provides intervention. The foundation is presently established in more than 200 villages throughout four states of India, including Gujarat, Bihar, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu. There are additional locations in 10 Guyana and South American villages as well. Looking toward the future, Dr. Patel aims to expand the program into other countries while ensuring that it remains stable and self-sustaining. He notably works alongside his wife, a pediatrician. Besides his contributions to the Sevak Foundation Inc., Dr. Patel has volunteered as a staff nephrologist at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (formerly the National Naval Medical Center) in Bethesda.

Dr. Patel graduated from Sherwood College with a high school diploma. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Baroda Medical College. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include an internship and fellowship in nephrology at the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University. Dr. Patel received board certification in internal medicine and nephrology.

Dr. Patel is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Master of the American College of Physicians. He is also a member of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

Recognizing his professional accomplishments, Dr. Patel received several accolades from the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. He also received numerous military awards, including for his service in Operation Urgent Fury and Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Other honors include a Legion of Merit and a Meritorious Service Medal.
