Leveraging more than four decades of excellence in protection and security, Mr. Hertig has earned distinction as an advisory board member for the International Foundation for Protection Officers. In this position, he focuses his efforts on providing education and training to support the foundation. He also lends his expertise as a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud to have received a plaque from International Foundation for Protection Officers for his insight and dedication.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Hertig began his career working in the campus security department while pursuing his education and then engaged in selling security contracts. He has also served in roles in sales, entailing investigation and management, and has worked as a Park Police officer. Following this time, he was a security supervisor at the Harrisburg East Mall for a year and a nuclear security training administrator for three years. In 1984, he became an assistant professor for the York College of Pennsylvania and served in this role until 2012. Additionally, he co-edited "The Professional Protection Officer: Practical Security Strategies and Emerging Trends," which published with Elsevier in 2010, and "Security Supervision and Management: Theory and Practice of Asset Protection" in 2015.
Mr. Hertig has an associate's degree in commercial security from Harrisburg Area Community college, a bachelor's degree in sociology from Bloomsburg State College (University) and a master's degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also has taken graduate courses in adult education from Penn State University. He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and a Certified Protection Officer Instructor (CPOI). He is currently researching the evolution of the security industry and plans to write on book on security history in the near future.
