BEL AIR, MD, April 06, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Augustus F. Brown with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Brown celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Originally founded by his grandfather in 1901, Mr. Brown has served as the president of Brown, Brown & Young PA (formerly Brown, Brown & Lanahan) since 1986. A prominent law firm in Maryland, he and his team of attorneys specialize in accident law, wills and estates, criminal defense, business and real estate law, and mediation and litigation.

Having been born into a family of attorneys, Mr. Brown notes that besides his grandfather, his father and uncle were esteemed attorneys at Brown, Brown & Young PA for many years. Despite his initial desire to become a journalist, Mr. Brown eventually followed a similar path to his family members, earning his law degree and joining the firm as an associate attorney in 1976.

Mr. Brown has spent many years representing clients in state and federal courts, mainly in auto injury, defective products, highway construction crashes, and workers' compensation. Attributing his success to his passion for justice and disdain for intolerance, he has also become well-known for his consulting skills and expertise as a trial consultant and jury focus group facilitator with Jury Research Service since 2005. Additionally, Mr. Brown has become a certified mediator in various areas of the law and has arbitrated privately as part of Augustus Brown Alternative Dispute Resolution since 2009.

In addition to his time spent in the courtroom, Mr. Brown has taught as a faculty member at Keenan Ball College (now Keenan Trial Institute) and the National College of Advocacy, American Association for Justice, was an instructor on behalf of the Maryland State Bar Association, and has contributed numerous scholarly articles to law journals in his area of expertise. He has also chaired the character committee and the Maryland State Board of Law, Second Appellate Circuit Court, for over 25 years. Looking toward the future, Mr. Brown aims to focus more on facilitating jury focus groups.

Active in his community, Mr. Brown has been affiliated with Saint Margaret Roman Catholic Church for over 20 years. He also chaired and now serves as a trustee emeritus at the John Carroll School and is a past chair at Harford Day School.

Mr. Brown received a Bachelor of Art in English literature, expository writing, and philosophy from Villanova University in 1971 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, from the University of Baltimore in 1974. He was notably elected into the Hueisler Honor Society for Academic Excellence while pursuing his law degree. Mr. Brown subsequently clerked for Judge William J. O'Donnell, U.S. Court of Appeals, in Maryland, from 1974 to 1976.

In recognition of his success, Mr. Brown was elected a fellow of the American College of Trial Advocates. He is also a member and past president of the Maryland chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a diplomate of the American Association for Justice. Outside of his law interests, Mr. Brown has been active as a professional member of the Maryland Archery Association. Martindale-Hubbell has recognized him as an AV-Rated Attorney for more than 25 years.
