Democrat Melissa May Launches Campaign for U.S. House of Representatives in California's 35th Congressional District

"I'm done with accepting that the working class and small businesses are neglected and left behind. Career politicians have left the American Dream unattainable for our children. We are on our own, and I'm over it."

ONTARIO, CA, April 13, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "The good people of the Inland Valley work hard every day, yet they aren't getting ahead. My own student loan debt and medical bills will forever keep me from achieving the American Dream. There are too many in the community like me. I'm done with accepting that the working class and small businesses are neglected and left behind. Career politicians have left the American Dream unattainable for our children. We are on our own, and I'm over it."

"We don't need another park named after a politician while our local food bank line grows longer and our air and streets are clogged with pollution from semi-trucks. Our community struggles every day. From small business owners to educators, from families to single people to the impoverished, we're all trying to keep up and are exhausted at the end of the day. These are moral issues; it's about what is right and wrong. About bringing the power of the federal government to help us, not hurt us. This is why I am running for Congress."

May graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario. She received her Bachelor's degree from California State University, Chico and her Master's in Education from National University. She is an Educator, Director, and Community Organizer.

In 2019, May and her husband, Stephen, started the Art and Science Cultural Center, a nonprofit in Ontario - in the hopes of building the first children's science, art and cultural centers throughout the Inland Valley to drive a love of learning, and encourage discovery.

In 2021, with the Ontario Fireworks Explosion, the Mays temporarily switched the focus of their nonprofit to help the families displaced by the disaster. May, her husband and countless Ontario community members raised money to help families stay in hotels and pay their insurance deductibles. She started the local chapter of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) civil rights organization to ensure residents of Ontario and surrounding areas would never be left unprepared to fight for their rights during another disaster/emergency.

She is a Governor Appointee - Board of Director, 28th Agricultural District of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (2022-present); Founder, Coordinator - Rising Voices Conference, Ontario Future Alliance (2022-present); Organizing Coordinator - CCAEJ (2022 - present); Board of Directors (Pacific Islander nonprofit) - M.A.L.O. (2019 - Present); Deputy District Director - LULAC District 5 - Inland Empire (2023 - present); Founder, President LULAC de Ontario (2021 - 2023); Coordinator - Ontario Agriculture Preservation Ballot Referendum (2022).

"I'm running for Congress to fight for the people in California's 35th District. I look forward to meeting with constituents, hearing their concerns, and working together to create prosperity, opportunity, and security for everyone in our community."

"Everything I have done in my life has led me to this point. The system doesn't work for the working class. I will collaborate where I need to collaborate, and I will fight where I need to fight. We need to make changes, and I need your vote and your help in fixing a broken system. It is time for the last ones to be first," said May.
