Gaining expertise in talent acquisition and strategic planning through a career of more than 10 years in human resources, she invested in female-led companies as an angel investor pursuing social ventures. She aligned with the Silicon Valley based Keiretsu Group.
Following work at Google, she funded ecological enterprises through the New World Foundation. Other advocacy work include being a steward for the ocean through the New England Aquarium and helping disadvantaged women through Dress for Success. Ms. Cairns is passionate about contemporary art and continues to support programs locally.
An expert in her field, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Art History from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Subsequently, she received a certificate in interior design, a post-baccalaureate certificate in painting from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and a human resources certificate through the University of California, Berkeley.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Cairns takes the most pride in the development of The Mariner, a senior assisted-living facility. Ultimately, Ms. Cairns continues to foster her passion for working with the senior population and seek out other ways to make a positive impact on the elderly.
