He received a gold record for the soundtrack of the movie, "Swingers," and earned a Grammy Award for his work on the George Carlin album "Napalm & Silly Putty."
CULVER CITY, CA, April 21, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bob Wayne has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Backed by years of professional expertise in the music industry, Mr. Wayne is director, chief engineer and owner of Sunburst Recording. Since establishing the business in the late 1970's, he has utilized both vintage and modern recording equipment on a variety of projects, including albums, film, television, and spoken word. Throughout his career, thus far, he has worked alongside such media icons as Adam Sandler, Micky Dolenz, Steve Allen, and Plas Johnson, the legendary tenor saxophone soloist on Henry Mancini's "The Pink Panther" movie theme. In his work, he has constantly strived to bring together artistry and technology. He has also expanded his business model to include restoring and archiving analog tapes, and digitizing them for research and personal collections.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Wayne aligns himself with the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. In honor of his outstanding breadth of achievements, he received a gold record for the soundtrack of the movie, "Swingers," and earned a Grammy Award for his work on the George Carlin album "Napalm & Silly Putty." He has also lent his skills to such feature films and television shows as "Guess Who," "Election," "Alias" and "One Tree Hill."
Though his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in having worked with Steve Allen, the original talk show host of "The Tonight Show." Another career standout was as a founding member of "Big Daddy," a 1950's parody band that recorded five albums on Rhino Records between 1983 and 2000, and their sixth album on RockBeat in 2012. The cornerstone of his success lay in not believing those who thought it a mistake to go into the music industry.
Mr. Wayne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from California State University, Northridge and an M.B.A. from U.C.L.A. (where he would later teach Recording Arts). Outside of his recording work, he has volunteered for more than a decade with the city of Culver City's "Fiesta La Ballona," curating the entertainment for this annual festival.
Looking ahead, Mr. Wayne aims to publish his recently completed autobiography "REEL TO REAL TALES...Notes From Both Sides of the Recording Console."
