NEW YORK, NY, April 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A soon to be divorced mom has created the resource she wanted but couldn't find as she navigated her own divorce – a series of letters to open ahead of court appearances, custody negotiations, and legal hearings, complete with a vintage look and interactive elements.
"I wanted the recipient to feel as if I were sliding over this secret notebook to rummage through," said C.L., a New York City resident who took notes throughout her divorce process to remember the most important bits. "The legal divorce process is a gut-wrenching experience unlike anything I've ever known. I was in uncharted territory and I wanted the next person to feel less alone."
The divorce books, all vintage-inspired and handmade, feature a series of printed letters with instructions like "open me before your preliminary conference," or "open me when you don't know what you'll wear to court." There are 11 letters in total, each of which features information and a QR code, or digital bookmark, that takes the reader to a specific page on www.divorcecountdown.com, where the resources are magnified.
The divorce books also include password protected links to ebooks, like The Carbdashians: Comfort Food in a Hurry. And Mock it To Me, a collection of non-alcoholic mocktails. An old-fashioned library card lists the most useful books C.L. read that helped her with her own divorce. And for those who can't sleep and don't have anyone they can call, she's had a friend record an audio clip with knock knock jokes and an affirmation for a much needed mental escape. Surprises are tucked in nooks and crannies.
"If someone had gifted me this I would have cried," said C.L. "It's the hand-holding I longed for during one of the worst times of my life."
The divorce books can be found at Etsy.com/shop/DivorceCountdown. They retail for $49.
