Robert Irving Desourdis Celebrated for Dedication to Collaborative Engineering and Book Writing

Robert I. Desourdis lends years of expertise to his mission leading Desourdis Collaboration, LLC

Desourdis Collaboration provides his services to businesses that cater to governmental needs in the DoD and homeland security domains.

OLYMPIA, WA, May 03, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert (Bob) Desourdis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected by their current reference value. Their position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are considered during the selection process.

Drawing on nearly 50 years of professional excellence in systems engineering, radio and wireless, telecommunications, technical collaboration, and more, Mr. Desourdis serves as a collaboration consultant, master solution architect, and Editor for NOVA Science Publisher's Homeland Security Series for the eponymous Desourdis Collaboration, LLC. A one-person consultancy, Desourdis Collaboration provides his services to businesses that cater to governmental needs in the DoD and homeland security domains. Currently, Mr. Desourdis leads a multiyear multidisciplinary effort to bring WWII memorialization throughout Italy to demonstrate the values of peace, security, and prosperity through democracy.

Throughout his career, Mr. Desourdis has led cross-functional teams in delivering innovative technology and system solutions for DXC Technology, Perspecta (now Peraton), Science Applications International Corporation, CACI, GTE Strategic Systems Division, and Signatron. Mr. Desourdis gained valuable technical and human collaboration expertise while delivering innovative solutions to complex DoD and homeland security problems. He has developed integration centers (Frost & Sullivan award and Signal Magazine article) to demonstrate the integration of multiple innovative technical systems into a unified capability, a problem when disparate groups work different intersystem innovations.

Due to his innovative systems engineering, integration, human collaboration, and history expertise, Mr. Desourdis has created or contributed to 20 books. In his recent 2021 work, The COVID-19 Disaster Volume I: The Historic Lessons Learned and Benefits of Human Collaboration, he revisited the classic human collaboration failures, adding the Space Shuttle disasters to his 9-11, Katrina, VA Tech Shootings and Deepwater Horizon examples from his 2017 book Human Collaboration in Homeland Security. He then proposed the use of AI to minimize future collaboration disasters in The COVID-19 Disaster Volume II: Building the AI-driven Pandemic Prevention and Response.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Desourdis earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and then a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, followed by a Master of Science in Technology and Policy from MIT. While his career has been filled with standout moments, he takes the most pride in a 1980's program, which involved government use of post (nuclear) attack radio communications he helped design.

He donates scale models and dioramas to "Greatest Generation" veterans, spending hundreds of hours bringing our WWII veterans the most thrilling, sometimes tragic, experiences of their lives. This includes B-17G and B-24H bombers for Barney Nolan, shown in their book God Was Our Pilot: Surviving 33 Missions in the Eighth Air Force, a B-25B for a Doolittle Raider's family, a D-Day C-47 for its crew chief, the USS Cairo for Edwin Cole Bearss (see Google), and more. His success lay in taking risks and providing creative methodologies to solve complex problems.

Looking ahead, Mr. Desourdis continues the "Italy Project," seeks to minimize and eliminate human collaboration failures during system development and implementation, and create his next history-model donations for veterans.
