HAILEY, ID, May 09, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bex Wilkinson has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Drawing on a lifetime of experience as an on and off visual artist and filmmaker, Ms. Wilkinson is distinguished for her moving expressionist pieces. Her work, inspired by her personal experiences, falls into four main categories — political, spiritual, personal and environmental that often take the form of abstract works in acrylic paint or mixed media on canvas. Some of Ms. Wilkinson's art is a statement about the underbelly of society or personal angst. She often explores topics that are uncomfortable for people to talk about, such as her series of pastels of dead birds: referring to the decreasing population of migrant bird populations in the face of the encroachment of mankind on their natural habitat, abortion and transgender and the exploitation of women. Her other work depicts joy of living through a tongue and cheek portrayal of dogs, unicorns and other contemporary icons.

Ms. Wilkinson earned a Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College and studied as an adjunct student at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Institute of Chicago. As a young adult living in Vermont, she enjoyed painting, but she stopped when she was 25 years old to concentrate on raising her family. She and her family moved to Idaho where Ms. Wilkinson became involved in film production and entrepreneurial work.

In 2016, a personal tragedy catapulted her back into her art when her second spouse died by suicide. Painting became her refuge and the process helped her express her emotions and come to terms with her grief.

Ms. Wilkinson had her first show in NYC during the height of the pandemic in 2020. There, she successfully sold pieces, launching her career. The show opened opportunities at many other galleries in the U.S. and Europe. Since then, she has participated in numerous group art shows. She has shown in New York, Chicago, Miami, Vienna, Lisbon, Madrid, and Paris, and will soon be in Stockholm.

She has received several awards for her work internationally, and has been interviewed by online magazines throughout the Globe.

Adjacent to her work as an artist, Ms. Wilkinson has a Masters in Counseling Psychology and has studied much Jungian Theory. She enjoys spending time with friends, family and her loving dogs.

She is a lover of yoga and works in the nonprofit sector towards healing through the arts.
