Brittaney R. Jenkins, BS, CHES®️ has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who For Excellence in Public Health

    BIRMINGHAM, AL, June 09, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brittaney R. Jenkins has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Pioneering her role as a certified health education specialist (CHES®️) and expert in chronic disease and injury prevention for underserved and marginalized communities, Ms. Jenkins is the founder and chief executive officer of Jenkins Public Health Consulting LLC™️. In her role, she assists public health and wellness organizations through consulting and training using a 5-Step Community Impact Framework to build trust and effectively serve communities. From strategic planning, capacity building, community engagement, marketing, and communications, to workshops, and speaking engagements, Ms. Jenkins has the tools and expertise to help organizations identify gaps in their efforts and create measurable impact for programs and communities.

Moreover, Ms. Jenkins serves as a mentor and coach by offering an 8-week Public Health Mentor Program that has served individuals worldwide that are current college students, recent graduates, and individuals pursuing public health as a career. The mentorship and coaching program includes training on 16+ public health workforce and leadership development topics and has supported diverse men and women worldwide. The virtual program aims to help members build confidence, knowledge, and skills to navigate public health successfully. Highlighting her success thus far, Ms. Jenkins was featured in articles published in the Nashville Voyager, Shout Out Atlanta, interviewed on multiple podcasts, and is in the idea phase of publishing a book.

Ms. Jenkins' public health experience stems from serving as the director of community outreach at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During that time, she successfully developed annual injury prevention programs, implemented training and education statewide for health educators, community health workers, and healthcare professionals, and wrote 18 grants annually. She also co-chaired the Board of Directors, organizing community members and addressing unsafe trends, the crisis of poisonings, and public health-related resource needs across the state. Ms. Jenkins also garnered expertise with the Marion County Public Health Department as a chronic disease health educator, communications specialist, community health screener, and environmental health specialist. She previously served as the chairperson for the Smoke-Free Indy Coalition in Indianapolis, Indiana, helping to build capacity and partnerships with local, state, and nationally recognized organizations to pass smoke-free air laws and tobacco use policies and to provide community-based and literacy-focused health education to eliminate the disparity between communities targeted by the tobacco industry and the rates of chronic disease. Earlier in her career, she was a patient navigator and ambassador at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital and a dietary aide and assistant activities director for the memory care unit at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Introduced to philanthropy by her grandparents, Ms. Jenkins has been very active civically since the age of six. Since 2015, she has been advocating and volunteering with the American Red Cross and has been a member of various public health-related associations across various states. Among other involvement, Ms. Jenkins has volunteered with Pathways Home, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana Inc., the Bethany House for Women and Children, and the Haitian Environmental Support Program. She also volunteered as a Christmas Day breadbasket server at Carpenters House Church to ensure families had nourishment for the holidays.

Ms. Jenkins earned a bachelor's degree in public health science and interpersonal relations from Ball State University in 2016. She also notably received certification as a health education specialist and certification in diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Furthermore, she earned credentials in building expertise in administration and management.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Jenkins aims to support the public health landscape in AL to equip public health workers and healthcare professionals through training and consulting on capacity building and partnership development, program development and implementation, and methods to build trust with communities, ultimately improving health outcomes. She also aspires to secure the proper equipment and staffing to offer organizations online and in-person training and courses.
