NORTH YORK, ONTARIO, CANADA, August 15, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Deborah Gottesman has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Gottesman is a lighting designer and educator with more than 35 years of expertise in the lighting industry. Inspired by her father, Daniel Gottesman, an engineer who found success by working his way through all levels of his firm, she attended Western University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Science in 1986. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Gottesman has pursued extensive continuing education to support her professional goals and, in 1996, she was awarded a Master of Business Administration in real property by the York University Schulich School of Business. In addition to her formal education, Ms. Gottesman is certified by the National Council for the Qualifications of Lighting Professionals and holds numerous professional credentials, including a Professional Engineer designation.

Ms. Gottesman began her career in 1987 as an Electrical Design Engineer for Mulvey & Banani, departing in 1992 to follow her passion for lighting design as a lighting project manager for Engineering Interface (now Ameresco). After four years with the company, she became the Manager of Technical Services for Osram Sylvania Inc., further developing her skills in commercial lighting. Ms. Gottesman contracted with industry leaders, including three years as a Senior Electrical Project Manager for Crossey Engineering where her projects included The Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, and various projects for Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. In 1999, Ms. Gottesman was inspired to open her own firm, showcasing her extensive experience in lighting design and in-depth industry knowledge.

Since establishing her practice, Ms. Gottesman has served as Principal of Gottesman Associates, where she continues to work with high-profile clients on residential, commercial, and specialty lighting projects, including historic buildings and religious spaces, schools, retail centers, and government buildings. Among her most cherished accomplishments, she was particularly gratified to work on the headquarters of the Ontario Association of Architects, a building that has earned praise for its environmentally-friendly design. For her firm's contributions to that project, Gottesman Associates notably earned five awards.

As a respected and passionate voice in her field, Ms. Gottesman has regularly lectured and taught lighting to a wide audience ranging from college and university students to senior architects. Ms. Gottesman has also been published in several professional journals, contributed to Canada's National Energy Code for Buildings, and has been a longstanding member of the Illuminating Engineering Society, the International Association of Lighting Designers, and the Commission International de Eclairage (CIE) where she has been actively developing a lighting education series for the industry. She has also been an active member on the House Committee of Beth Tikvah Synagogue, Toronto.

In accounting for her success, Ms. Gottesman largely credits her relentless dedication to high quality, bespoke lighting solutions that address human needs for healthy and beautiful spaces, and her ability to endure through challenging moments especially as a young female engineer in a traditionally male dominated field. Throughout the course of her career, she has been proud to develop a successful and influential practice, mentoring numerous people along the way. Looking toward the future, Ms. Gottesman aspires to continue expanding the scope of her operations, inspiring young designers and contributing to the profession.
