Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in business and people leadership and technology delivery, Mr. Wong has earned distinction as the executive director of Exelixis, a company that aims to sustainably produce treatments for patients with cancer. Having joined the company in 2022, he supports the company's Information Technology Department contributing to business efforts in developing therapeutic products such as Cabometyx (cabozantinib), Cotellic (cobimetinib) and Minnebro (esaxerenone).
Prior to joining Exelixis, Mr. Wong served as Executive Director, Worldwide Infrastructure and Operations for Gilead Sciences. Mr. Wong led Information Technology infrastructure teams in the Americas, Europe and Asia in support of the company's mission to discover and develop innovative medicines. Mr. Wong was also an advisory systems engineer and professional services manager for Siemens Medical Solutions in 1987 until becoming a manager for the ERP technical architecture group for Novartis in 1994. Following this time, he functioned as the senior director of IT operations for Wind River in 1998 and was an IT manager for UTStarcom in 2003. In 2007, he was a consultant for Assertive Solutions and joined Lyris Inc. later that year as a senior director of global applications and compliance.
Mr. Wong continued his career in project management for Wells Fargo in 2009 and worked with the Infrastructure Management Group of Kaiser Permanente in 2012. To prepare for his career, Mr. Wong earned a Bachelor of Science in information and computer science from the University of California, Irvine in 1986.
Within the coming years, Mr. Wong intends to develop organizations that are more resilient and robust, utilizing his vast experiences in designing the people, processes and technology for different industries. He also plans to continue his charitable efforts, having previously volunteered his IT consultation services to the Ronald McDonald House.
