He received the 2007 Distinguished Business Alumnus Award from the University of Wisconsin and the 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award from the SHRM and American Compensation Association.

    NEW YORK, November 27, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce R. Ellig, author and retired human resource executive from Pfizer, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for prominent features in the New York City regional editions of Forbes and Fortune magazines.

Bruce R. Ellig graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration. Hired in 1960 by Pfizer, he moved in and out of roles during his tenure until retiring in 1996. He served as a manager of compensation and personnel research, corporate director and vice president of compensation and benefits, the first corporate officer in the U.S. with this title, vice president of employee relations and personnel, and vice president of personnel reporting to the company's chairman and CEO, with responsibility for worldwide HR, a position he held for over 12 years. In addition, Mr. Ellig dedicated time to Pfizer's corporate advisory council, savings investment, retirement plans assets, retirement plan, employee compensation, and management development standing committees.

Mr. Ellig is the author of "American History Impact on Employee Pay and Benefits," "The Evolution of Employee Pay in The United States," and four editions of "The Complete Guide to Executive Compensation." He served on the advisory board for the Journal of Compensation and Benefits for 12 years, authored and co-authored over 100 articles in journals, and participated in over 400 presentations before audiences, including on television and radio.

Mr. Ellig was chairman of the board of directors of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). He was elected a fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources in 1983. He received the 2007 Distinguished Business Alumnus Award from the University of Wisconsin and the 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award from the SHRM and American Compensation Association. In 2004, he funded the Bruce R. Ellig Distinguished Chair in Pay and Organizational Effectiveness in the University of Wisconsin Business School. In 2019, he funded the Ellig Professor in Management and in 2000, he established the Ellig scholarship in the Business School.
