With more than three decades of excellence in vocal performance and education, Ms. Skok has earned distinction as a professional vocalist in addition to being the owner and master instructor for Skokstudio LLC. Since 1995, she has taught students through online and in-person lessons and creates unique vocal programs for her singers. Additionally, after a 25-year career as a Soprano, Skok now sings professionally as a Contralto since 2021 and is the founder and director of Resonanz Opera.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Skok won the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions in Pittsburgh and received the Sullivan Award from Opera America. She won first place in the 1993 Opera Index and in the pop music division of the Music International Grand Prix in 2022. Added to these, she was honored with a Faculty Advancement Award from the New School University in 1998. Prior to her current position, Ms. Skok taught on the voice faculties of New England Conservatory, The University of Kentucky, Bennington College, The College of St. Rose, Oberlin College Conservatory, The New School University and Lakeland Community College. To prepare for her career, Ms. Skok earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University in 1990. She also holds an Artist Diploma from the University of Duquesne. She is also a valued member of the National Association of Teachers of Singers.
Looking to the future, Ms. Skok intends to continue to perform as a Contralto, singing the works of Mahler and Wagner repertoire in performances with national and international orchestras and opera companies.
