THIBODAUX, LA, January 04, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James "Jim" Duhon has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Duhon was born into the construction and heavy machinery industry; he learned the trade from both his father and grandfather, who both worked as contractors. At just four years old, he was on the bulldozer with them. As he grew up, he followed his affinity for hands-on learning to learn the trade from his father and not only absorbed the necessary skill set but his father's work ethic as well, which has guided him—and continues to guide him—throughout his career as a business owner today.
After completing marine biology and biological oceanography coursework at Nicholls State University and safety coursework in general business administration and management at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Mr. Duhon worked for over 15 years at JAG Construction, filling the roles of sales manager, operations, and, eventually, co-owner. In 2013, he applied himself at Intercoastal Liquid Mud Inc., where he gained managerial experience working as a facilities manager and field operations manager. After several years, he transitioned to the role of safety consultant at Gulf South Employer Services, a part of the Louisiana Department of Health, before moving to LA Contracting Enterprise, where he held the role of superintendent.
From 2016 to 2019, while working at LA Contracting, Mr. Duhon gained numerous construction management, safety and health, and specialist certifications. While fulfilling the aforementioned roles and responsibilities at the companies he worked in, he had a chance encounter with an individual, which led to an introduction with another individual, who had secured the distribution agreement with SMP Parts AB for North America. Though he did not have a business at the time, Mr. Duhon expressing interest in the Texas and Louisiana locations and ultimately took the leap in resigning from his position at LA Contracting in 2019 to invest his life savings into establishing his own business, Viking Attachments LLC, with over 30 years of experience under his belt.
Since founding Viking Attachments, a heavy machinery company that aims to improve the efficiency and safety for contractor and owners, over five years ago, Mr. Duhon now represents over 15 different companies. In reflecting on the development of his career and where it has brought him today, he is proud of all he has achieved and how he carries himself in the world, treating everyone he meets the way he wants to be treated. Along with being an involved presence in his company, overseeing every facet of the company, such as taking care of his customers, dealing with distributors, and expanding the business, Mr. Duhon is an active member of his local and global community. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and travels whenever he can to see the world and gain new perspective. Looking forward to the next five to 10 years, Mr. Duhon's ultimate goal is to work to leave a legacy for his children that will set them up for success.
