Offering a luxurious experience and various services, her salon focuses on hair extensions, seamless color, color correction, non surgical hair replacement and soon to be a licensed Clinical Trichologist (specializing in hair loss and regenerative hair services) certified with the AMCA in the fall of 2024. Besides servicing clients, Ms. Whitlock focuses on mentoring and developing her team of stylists to help them improve their skills and knowledge base. In addition to honing their salon skills, she teaches them business acumen, emotional maturity, and how to handle difficult client conversations with grace and professional boundaries.
Aside from focusing on a holistic approach to business, Ms. Whitlock is committed to positively impacting the community. As such, she has partnered with Green Circle Salons, an industry-related recycling company, to ensure their waste is disposed of responsibly. She also shares her wall space with local artisans. Ms. Whitlock assumes a 25% commission from the artists, with 5% going back to her stylists who sell the artwork and the other 20% dedicated to a community fund. After six months, the fund is donated to various local nonprofit organizations, including domestic violence shelters, the homeless community, our PRIDE community, SMILE Foster Closet and more.
In the industry for over 15 years, Ms. Whitlock has garnered exceptional expertise as a hair stylist, having worked at Salon Rouge and Artistry Salon in Dana Point, California, Salon Palisades in Capistrano Beach, California, and Rumors Salon in Johnson City. She owned Elevate Studioz Inc. acting as the president and chief executive officer from 2017 to 2020, opened Edify Salon & Extension Bar in 2020, and has since launched Edify Elite Extensions Inc. 2024 where she wholesales human hair extensions to salons and hairstylists specializing in the art of extensions.
Looking toward future goals, Ms. Whitlock aims to prioritize profitability and expansion by focusing on developing a solid leadership team. Moreover, she aspires to open a second location and eventually begin franchising her business model.
As a dedicated civil advocate, Ms. Whitlock volunteers with her local Habitat for Humanity and has been active with the Shea Therapeutic Riding facility in San Juan Capistrano, CA which caters to individuals with developmental disabilities whose therapy is enhanced via the vehicle of horse related activities. She was also a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children and a panelist for the Small Business Women's Luncheon in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Well-qualified in her field, Ms. Whitlock received a cosmetology license from Lake Forest Beauty College in 2005. Her success earned her recognition with the Gold Business of the Year by the High-Performance Salon Academy in 2023. She has also been interviewed by the Knoxville Voyager and was humbled to receive the 2023 Distinguished Business Excellence Award from KOSBE Office of Small Business Development and Entrepreneurship.
