In recent years, he has become drawn toward more intricate and multifaceted cases, allowing him to grow and learn as a legal professional. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Barkley lent his expertise as an associate editor for the California Western International Law Journal.
Invested in community-related organizations, Mr. Barkley is recognized as a high member, third and fourth degree, of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member and officer of the Ely Club at his local Elks and is a member and past president of the U.S. Jaycees. Among other affiliations, Mr. Barkley has been active with the Boys and Girls Club of America, a board member of its Nevada Area Council (BSA), a director of the international law moot court program at his alma mater, California Western School of Law, and a founder of the nonprofit foundation, Ponderosa Charities. Mr. Barkley strongly believes that giving back to the community is critical in one's professional and personal life, regardless of their level of accomplishment.
A native of Paris, Mr. Barkley immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1967. He attended the University of California in Los Angeles, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in history and languages in 1976 and earning recognition as a chancellor's marshal at graduation. Continuing his studies, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from California Western School of Law in 1979. Mr. Barkley has been admitted to practice by the Nevada Bar Association, the U.S. District Court of Nevada, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He notably speaks English and French.
Mr. Barkley remains abreast in his industry as a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Washoe County Bar Association, and the DRI. Recognized for his accomplishments, he has been an AV-Rated Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell since 2011 and was later presented with a Special Edition Judicial Award in 2023. Mr. Barkley was also recognized with a Lawyers of Distinction Award in 2023, and 2024 in Civil Litigation.
