Mr. Valdez is a former vice president and mortgage loan officer at GreenState Credit Union in Clive, Iowa, who held his position from 2022 to 2023. He also garnered expertise as a mortgage loan officer for several other organizations in Iowa, including Regions Bank, Wells Fargo, Movement Mortgage LLC, and New American Funding, between 2016 and 2018. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Valdez was a contract administrator with PANTECH/PDVSA, an oil and gas company in Maturin, Venezuela, from 2013 to 2014.
Civically invested, Mr. Valdez has been an active member of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce since 2017 and has served on the Empresarios board of directors for the Des Moines East and South Chamber of Commerce since 2016. He also maintains several roles with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Quad Cities, Alcaldia de Maturin, and UNICEF. Additionally, Mr. Valdez frequently volunteers within the Latino community in Des Moines, assisting with financial literacy classes and speaking to children about the American dream. Looking toward the future, he envisions establishing a nonprofit organization catering to Jewish individuals and the importance of diversity for those residing in Iowa.
Mr. Valdez graduated from Marshalltown Community College in 2010 with an associate's degree in business administration and management. He subsequently received a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and management from Ashford University in 2012 and a Master of Business Administration in international finance from Saint Ambrose University in 2015. Mr. Valdez has also been recognized with credentials through the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. He is presently pursuing certification as a coach through the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), where he is a professional member, to help more professionals enter the mortgage and real estate industry.
