General Anderson, who chairs the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission, met representatives of Solutions Afoot when both parties attended the North Carolina Defense Summit and the Association of the U.S. Army's annual meeting and exposition, which was held in 2023.

Anderson said he was impressed by Solution Afoot's "ability to streamline activities as part of the growing Information Age."

Anderson describes himself as "A Christian, American, husband, father of three, grandfather of two, farmer, soldier, paratrooper, artilleryman and military advocate."

He was born and raised on a family farm in Elloree, South Carolina, and was one of the first black students to integrate public schools there in 1965, a group known as the "Elloree Seven."

He attended Wofford College, where he was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and received a degree in economics as well as a commission in the U.S. Army Field Artillery.

"I spent 33 years serving in a range of military assignments from Fort Liberty to the Pentagon, from Korea to Hawaii," he said. "Most of my service was at Fort Liberty as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division."

He served four tours with that division and completed 125 parachute jumps, and also completed combat deployments including Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, Operation Desert Shield/Storm in Saudi Arabia, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. In all, his military assignments took him to more than 30 nations.

After he retired, he remained active in working for the benefit of his fellow soldiers.

"My passion is helping military service members build resilience and make a good transition after military service."

To that end, he explained, "Our 2024 focus is to assist military spouses in a range of topics from employment to family resilience."
