Ms. Ong's career also includes pivotal legal roles in the traditional financial sector. As the director and corporate regulatory attorney at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), she oversaw the corporate activities of the treasury, payments and fintech vertical of the bank. Before her tenure at SVB, Ms. Ong held the role of vice president of legal and compliance at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she was instrumental in overseeing legal and compliance functions. Furthermore, Ms. Ong's tenure at American Express as the head of compliance and privacy is particularly notable because she demonstrated remarkable resilience by steering the company through an economic crisis, where she was the recipient of the prestigious President's Award.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Ong graduated with an undergraduate degree in accounting and business law from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, a Juris Doctorate from the University of California San Francisco, and a Master of Laws in banking, corporate, finance, and securities law from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the California Bar Association, and was a certified information privacy professional and a certified anti-money laundering specialist.
