Recognized for more than 35 years of success in business and strategic planning and leadership consulting, Ms. Senkfor is distinguished as founder, owner and principal of Gates Pike Consulting, a company that provides strategic planning, leadership coaching, and team effectiveness education to small and midsized companies, including financial institutions, nonprofits, and high-tech startups. In her role, Ms. Senkfor provides strategic planning guidance and brings a deep knowledge of revenue growth strategy, including new product launches and oversight of related cultural issues. In addition to her consultancy, Ms. Senkfor spent over 10 years at McKinsey & Company, a global leading management consulting firm where she was a Principal and worked to achieve distinctive, lasting and substantial improvements in her client's performance. She has also worked at Johnson and Johnson Consumer Products and Booz, Allen & Hamilton.
Born in Korea, Ms. Senkfor immigrated to the United States at the age of 10. Her experience as an immigrant was tremendously impactful for her; she attributes her success to the fact that she lives in the greatest country in the world, a place where if people are willing to work hard and get an education, they will encounter endless possibility. Upon graduating from high school, Ms. Senkfor attended Emory University, where she qualified for a courtesy scholarship because her mother worked there as a nurse, and she graduated in 1987. She went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1991 where she was elected as a Johnson and Johnson Consumer Products Scholarship recipient.
Ms. Senkfor was inspired to establish Gates Pike Consulting based on her work experiences at McKinsey as well as her service on various boards of directors of several small companies and nonprofit organizations. Through these experiences, she came to realize that the level of seriousness and attention she received from her colleagues was directly proportional to the amount of money she was being paid. In her role as a board member, Ms. Senkfor's primary responsibility was to advocate for the organization; however, as a consultant, she was taken much more seriously and was able to provide valuable insights and recommendations to help the organization achieve its goals. This insight sparked the creation of Gates Pike Consulting.
Of the many feats she has accomplished throughout her career, Ms. Senkfor takes particular pride in becoming the first female principal in the Midwest region of McKinsey & Company, including cities like Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. Being an Asian female immigrant, she has always believed in the power of hard work and meritocracy. She is a role model for young women and takes pride in mentoring newly elected managers and young women.
Outside of work, Ms. Senkfor enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, and their three children, Baui, (born in 1994) Henry, (born in 1996) and Sarah, (born in 1998). In her free time, she can be found skiing, traveling, practicing yoga and reading. Looking toward the future, Ms. Senkfor wants to get more involved with helping nonprofits make a positive impact on society through turning innovative, passionate ideas into implementable and sustainable organization sand by nurturing the growth of effective leaders.
