    NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, April 11, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shana Beth Traina, Ph.D., has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Traina is a distinguished professional who has served as a behavior change intelligence leader at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey, since 2022. In this role, she leads a team of behavioral scientists dedicated to increasing health behaviors important to the company and its customers. Dr. Traina's work involves understanding the determinants of health behaviors such as clinical trial participation and medication adherence. By uncovering the root causes of behavior and applying highly tailored evidence-based solutions, her team has demonstrated the ability to improve health outcomes for all.

Before her current position, Dr. Traina was a global market access leader at Johnson & Johnson in Raritan, New Jersey, from 2015 to 2023. She also served as the global patient-reported outcomes leader for the health care company in Raritan between 2007 and 2015.

Dr. Traina's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident through her leadership at Johnson & Johnson, where she championed inclusive data collection practices that respect sexual orientation and gender identity self-identification. This initiative has led to valuable insights that have shaped more inclusive strategies for implementing behavior change solutions. Moreover, she has been serving as an invited speaker and acting JPAL for Johnson & Johnson Innovation JLABS since 2017.

Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Traina's career included the role of health economist at Amgen in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2005, where she was responsible for developing economic and cost-effectiveness models and Global Value Dossiers to support market access strategies in immunology and oncology. She also worked as a research assistant at the Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) from 1997 to 2006. During that same time, Dr. Traina garnered experience as a graduate student researcher at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Los Angeles. During an earlier stage of her career, she was trained as a focus group moderator at the nonprofit Think Tank RAND in Santa Monica where she worked as a health services researcher between 2002 and 2005.

In her educational journey, Dr. Traina earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Humboldt State University in 1995, a Master of Arts in behavioral and clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in California in 1997, and a Doctor of Philosophy in health services research from UCLA in 2006. Her certifications include credentials as a Dare to Lead™ Trained/Certified Dare to Lead™ facilitator. Dr. Traina also received executive leadership certification in market access and health economics through the London School of Economics and Political Science and certification in behavioral economics from Duke University.

Dr. Traina is an active member of industry-related organizations such as the Dare to Lead™ Network and Johnson & Johnson's employee resource groups Open and Out and Women's Leadership and Inclusion. Aside from her active memberships, she has been recognized as an invited speaker on women in leadership across various STEM fields and has contributed significantly to incorporating patient perspectives into health care innovation. Dr. Traina was also an invited panelist before a U.S. Food and Drug Administration conference on incorporating the patient's voice and perspective in developing innovative approaches to diabetes treatment and care. Furthermore, her work includes co-authoring influential papers on obesity treatment approaches and developing questionnaires that provide deep insights into the lives of individuals with diabetes and obesity.

As for her future aspirations, Dr. Traina seeks to advance further in the realm of leadership by guiding teams of researchers toward strategic thinking and application of scientific practices within business contexts. Her goal is to foster an environment where excellence thrives, and individual talents are nurtured for greater organizational success.
