Dr. Hoffler has dedicated over six decades to the field of medicine, focusing on internal medicine. Prior to his retirement, he served with distinction at the VA Medical Center from 1990 to 2011. His tenure there was marked by his commitment to veterans' health, particularly those grappling with addiction issues.

Before his impactful work at the VA, Dr. Hoffler practiced internal medicine in a private practice setting in Norfolk, Virginia, between 1975 and 1990, where he was responsible for managing and supervising the health care of over 2,000 patients annually. As an internist, Dr. Hoffler specialized in diagnosing, treating, and caring for adults across a broad spectrum of health conditions, ranging from general to complex health-related illnesses and chronic diseases. His extensive experience in internal medicine has earned him high praise and respect in the medical community.

In preparation for his career in medicine, Dr. Hoffler completed a Bachelor of Arts in pre-medicine at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, in 1967. During his undergraduate studies, he was elected into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Dr. Hoffler subsequently earned a Doctor of Medicine from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1970. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include an internship from 1970 to 1971 and a residency in internal medicine between 1971 and 1974 at Southside Medical Center. Dr. Hoffler was licensed to practice medicine in Virginia.

The knowledge and skills acquired during his educational years laid the foundation for Dr. Hoffler's successful career. He attributes his accomplishments to his unwavering determination to overcome various barriers that he faced along the way. These challenges only strengthened his resolve and contributed to his professional growth and status as an esteemed physician.
