After co-founding Soccer Box in 2019, Mr. Thomas went on to concurrently apply his expertise in management and operations as President and Co-Owner of the retail operations at CDW Ventures, Inc. Cut'Em Down Waterfowl Inc., a position he has remained in since 2021. Prior to this role and before pursuing his entrepreneurial endeavors with Soccer Box, he served as the vice president of Southern Bank and Trust Company from 2018 to 2021, a title he had previously held at BB&T between 2013 and 2018. Earlier in his career, Mr. Thomas also gained leadership experience working as a production manager at Fancy Home Products from 2011 to 2013, as an area manager at Vail Resorts from 2007 to 2011, and as an aquatics manager for the City of Wilson from 2006 to 2007.
In each role he has held, Mr. Thomas honed his ability to lead, which has greatly influenced his capacity to support the development of youth through coaching, resource provision, and understanding soccer at a higher level. Leading up to his career experience, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in recreation management and administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2005, a degree he has successfully leveraged in each position and professional pursuit. Overall, Mr. Thomas' time at university was not only pivotal for his education but also marked the beginning of his coaching journey.
From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Thomas focused on fostering inclusive sports environments when he was the coach of the Special Olympics program at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke—an experience that deeply influenced his career path and instilled a lifelong passion for coaching and sports management. Since college, he has remained actively involved in civic associations that reflect his commitment to community service. From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Thomas functioned as the chair of Youth of Wilson, a role in which he demonstrated leadership in local youth initiatives; contributed as a volunteer with United Way; and has served as a sponsor of several other community events, further showcasing his civic-minded spirit.
