With a career spanning more than three decades, Ms. Emmer is a feng shui master and interior designer, having held the title of owner at Feng Shui Style since 2002. Her expertise in feng shui informs her designs, creating harmonious and aesthetically pleasing environments for her clients. Prior to her current role, Ms. Emmer served as an engineering manager at Adobe Systems from 2000 to 2002. She honed her skills in interior design as a consultant and owner at L.A. Feng Shui from 1996 to 2000. Before that appointment, she was a quality assurance manager for the SuperScript Series at NEC Technologies from 1994 to 1996 and began her career as an independent interior designer from 1992 to 1994.

Ms. Emmer's professional journey is complemented by her membership in several industry-related organizations. Since 2015, she has been a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and joined the National Kitchen and Bath Association in 2014. Her dedication to preservation and history is further evidenced by her involvement with The Connecticut Historical Society, the Newington Historical Society, the Victorian Preservation Alliance, the World Wildlife Federation and the Sierra Club.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Ms. Emmer's academic background laid the foundation for her success. She completed coursework towards a Bachelor of Arts in humanities, with a major in French and a minor in history, at Harvard University in 1992. She furthered her education with coursework toward a Bachelor of Arts in design and photography at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1994 and undertook graduate studies in business at Boston University in 1991. Ms. Emmer also received a Bachelor of Arts in art from Skidmore College in 1985. Her specialized training includes a Foundation and Key Concepts Course in Classical Feng Shui at the International Feng Shui Institute in Kent, England, in 2006, and advanced studies under Master Larry Sang at the American Feng Shui Institute, where she earned accreditation as a feng shui master in 1996.

Ms. Emmer's personal life reflects her passion for creativity and well-being. She enjoys cooking, playing music, caring for her cats, walking with friends and practicing yoga. Committed to preserving architectural heritage, she is actively involved in saving historic homes with the Newington Junction Historical District. Ms. Emmer's extracurricular involvement includes past participation with the Preservation Action Council of San Jose from 2002 to 2015 and as a rescuer for Homeless Kitties of Los Gatos from 2005 to 2008.

Ms. Emmer's contributions have not gone unnoticed. She has received numerous accolades, including being named Number One Design Firm in Los Gatos, California, in 2023 and featured on multiple Top Ten Lists of San Jose Designers. Her excellence has been recognized with more than 22 designer awards from Luxe Magazine, as well as commendations for customer service from Houzz in 2022, where she is also an influencer and recommended professional. Ms. Emmer's life outside of work is characterized by her love for cultural preservation and education. She is determined to protect historic homes while sharing her expertise through teaching feng shui principles and authoring books on architecture and feng shui practices within the United States.
