As a senior engineer and supervisor at HBK Engineering LLC, he has dedicated the past couple of years to enhancing the reliability of power distribution systems on the island's eastern side. His leadership in reconstructing and modernizing electrical systems has significantly helped to improve the efficiency and sustainability of Puerto Rico's power infrastructure. Additionally, Mr. Martínez-Rivera is the Founding Chair of ¡Fuego!, the Latino Employee Resource Group (ERG) at HBK Engineering, where he champions the creation of a supportive community and advocates for the needs and interests of Latino employees.

Before his current role, Mr. Martínez-Rivera served as an electrical and instrumentation and control engineer at Stantec Consulting from 2012 to 2022. During his decade-long tenure there, he honed his expertise in buildings' electrical design and the distribution of power utilities. His commitment to excellence was further demonstrated through his involvement with industry organizations, such as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering, the International Society of Automation and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Between 2013 and 2014, Mr. Martínez-Rivera worked as an automation specialist at Synerlution in Puerto Rico. This role allowed him to develop a keen understanding of automation technologies, which he later applied to his subsequent positions. His overall career trajectory showcases a consistent dedication to advancing his technical skills and contributing to the field of electrical engineering, which he learned during his collegiate years.

Mr. Martínez-Rivera earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, with a focus on control systems, from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in 2012. This education laid the groundwork for his professional achievements and equipped him with the knowledge necessary to excel in complex engineering projects. Furthermore, his pursuit of continuous learning is evident through numerous certifications, including multiple professional engineer licenses across several states, a temporary traffic control advanced course certification from the Florida Department of Transportation Central Florida, a leadership certification from The John Maxwell Team as well as an Occupational Safety and Health Administration general industry safety and health certification.
