An accomplished listee, Henry Obering celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1973, Mr. Obering joined the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot. Years later, he pursued further education at Stanford University, completing a Master of Science in astronautical engineering in 1980. Subsequently, he worked as an orbital project engineer and space shuttle integration engineer at Kennedy Space Center's U.S. Space Shuttle Program. Simultaneously, he held various assignments in the Air Force, working with the inspector general team, the Defense Mapping Agency, and the electronic systems center in Boston. In 1999, Mr. Obering was assigned to the Pentagon and promoted to a one-star general.

In the ensuing years, Mr. Obering joined the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, serving as the first program manager for its command and control programs. Shortly after receiving a promotion to two-star general, he became the director of the Missile Defense Agency and a three-star general. Five years later, he retired from the U.S. Air Force and began leveraging his considerable expertise as the executive vice president and senior vice president of Booz Allen Hamilton. Likewise, he contributed to the boards of such companies as Astra Scale U.S., Intel Sat U.S., Modern Technology Solutions Incorporated, and Lawrence Livermore National Labs. In 2022, Mr. Obering retired from his civilian role but continued to serve as an adviser with the company.

Dedicated to his community and those less fortunate, Mr. Obering gives back through the Channel Towers Foundation and St. Jude Children's Hospital. Given his professional achievements, he received the Father William Corby Award for Outstanding Graduate in Military Service from the University of Notre Dame, the Ron Kadish Leadership Award for Excellence from the National Defense Industrial Association, two Defense Superior Distinguished Service Medals, and the Highest Non-Combat Award from the Department of Defense. While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Obering takes the most pride in leading the Missle Defense Agency, where they began deploying the first ballistic missile defense system for the United States in 2004. He also assisted Israel in developing its Iron Dome system.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Obering credits his success to his upbringing. He intends to help his grandchildren through college and travel more.
