Ms. Baradar has dedicated over three decades to mental health counseling, distinguishing herself as a licensed mental health counselor and licensed professional counselor. Currently serving at the Washington Counseling Center since 2017, she meets with a diverse range of clients, including individuals, couples, families, youth, children, and people from various cultural backgrounds. Ms. Baradar's practice focuses on helping clients overcome numerous challenges, ranging from depression and anxiety to stress management and family reunification.
Previously affiliated with the Oregon Counseling Center from 2002 to 2017 as a licensed professional counselor, Ms. Baradar's career also included significant contributions as a counselor for the Providence Employee Assistance Program between 1993 and 1997 after taking a five-year break to raise her children. She also garnered success as a family counselor at Beaverton Community Youth Services from 1991 to 1993 and in various earlier counseling roles that laid the foundation for her longevity in the field.
Ms. Baradar's journey in mental health began in 1985 as a counselor at Rosemont School in Portland, Oregon, where she worked with troubled youth and young adolescents without parental guidance. This experience was pivotal in shaping her approach to mental health counseling. Additionally, from 1986 to 1987, Ms. Baradar served as a research assistant at various educational testing facilities in Woodburn, Oregon, further broadening her understanding of the psychological needs of children and adolescents.
In preparation for her career in this sector, Ms. Baradar received a Bachelor of Science in applied psychology from Eastern Washington University in 1982 and a Master of Science in counseling from Oregon State University in 1985. She also completed coursework at Gonzaga University. Furthermore, Ms. Baradar holds credentials as a licensed professional counselor in Oregon, a licensed mental health counselor in Washington, and a nationally certified counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Ms. Baradar is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology, the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association, the NBCC, and the Oregon Counseling Association. She is also active in the Women's Association of Oregon and the South Asian Women's Empowerment and Resource Alliance and serves as a program chair and educational counselor for the Columbia chapter of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Baradar is involved with civic-minded organizations, such as the Violence Prevention Advisory Planning Committee, and is influential on the board of directors for Group Psychotherapy of Oregon.
Apart from her fieldwork, Ms. Baradar is penning a memoir that draws from her journals and experiences as an immigrant navigating life in the U.S. This project aims to offer insights and inspiration to others facing similar challenges. With plans to publish her memoir and aspirations for it to be adapted into a movie within the next few years, Ms. Baradar strives to significantly impact others' lives through these personal projects.
