Well-regarded for his achievements as an advocate for the game of chess, Mr. Eade is the chief executive officer of The Eade Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to expand chess literacy throughout the world by distributing game boards and lessons to disadvantaged communities. An enthusiast for the game since his youth, Mr. Eade went on to organize several successful chess tournaments during the 1990s and has held various positions of high leadership with such organizations as the U.S. Chess Trust, the Chess Journalists of America, the CalChess Northern California Chess Federation, the World Chess Federation, the United States Chess Federation, and the Kolty Chess for Youth Foundation, among others.

Recognized for his longevity in the field, Mr. Eade has garnered acclaim as the author of multiple books on chess, including the bestselling "Chess for Dummies," published in 1996 and "The Chess Player's Bible," released in 2004. He was also the founder of Hypermodern Press, a publishing company that released several titles written by chess luminaries. Mr. Eade's more recent projects include "Freedom: Your Path to Recovery," released this spring and invites readers to examine their behaviors and free themselves with new modes of thinking. He is also the producer of "Change Your Mind," a program appearing on PODTV via Roku, Amazon, and YouTube, which features guest speakers and lively debate in the spirit of encouraging viewers to maintain an open mind on various subjects.

While coming of age, Mr. Eade drew considerably from the influence of such figures as Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King Jr., whose models of peaceful disobedience have proved inspirational. In accounting for his own success in the field, Mr. Eade credits his ability to concentrate, determination, and resilience in the face of adversity.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS
Mr. Eade studied history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1978. He later attended the University of San Francisco, graduating with a Master of Arts in human resources management in 1991.

AWARD HIGHLIGHTS
A highly acclaimed figure in the world of chess, Mr. Eade was presented with the 2022 Chess Journalist of America Award for Best Chess Website. Other accolades to his credit include an Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the United States Chess Federation in 2018 and recognition as Chess Educator of the Year by the University of Texas at Dallas in 2016.
