Mr. Francis has cultivated a distinguished career in cybersecurity and information technology and currently excels as a senior manager of project security at Walgreens Boots Alliance. In this capacity, he has held broad oversight of process optimization, executive briefings, and team management since 2022. His expertise extends to consultancy with Design It, where he expertly guides Azure architects in implementing best practices in cybersecurity. Additionally, Mr. Francis persists in nurturing his passion for acting. He has performed consistently under the name DJ Shattine since 2017, accumulating distinguished credits that include roles in commercial work for local businesses, lead roles in indie films, and as a background actor in multiple productions, including "Don't Look Up" and "Boston Strangler."

Mr. Francis initiated his career as a C# developer at WRSystems in 2006, after which he transitioned to the Washington D.C. metro area to accept work as an information technology management specialist in an advanced Department of Defense intern program, the Army Knowledge Leaders, between 2006 and 2008 where he had the opportunity to shadow a multitude of senior leaders and generals across the U.S. Army while being trained in Information Technology Management, Business Acumen, and Leadership competencies. Subsequently, Mr. Francis thrived as an information assurance manager with the Army Publishing Directorate from 2008 to 2010 and as the Information Security Program Manager, equivalent to a CISO, from 2011 to 2014 with the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, leading their cybersecurity program for classified and unclassified networks.

Securing rapid advancement after joining MilliporeSigma in 2014 as an information security engineer, Mr. Francis was named the company's associate director of cyber defense operations in 2015 and accepted the title of associate director of operational integration later that year. In 2016, he progressed to the rank of information security manager of global information security program and governance. Concurrently, Mr. Francis was humbled to share his knowledge as an adjunct professor at Brandeis University and Southern New Hampshire University between 2018 and 2022.

Mr. Francis's academic achievements forged a solid foundation for his career ambitions. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in computer science and computer information systems from Norwich University in 2006, from which he proudly graduated cum laude. He counts his time at Norwich, a private military institution, as particularly formative in advancing his leadership skills as he enjoyed opportunities to manage younger classes within the Corps of Cadets. Notably, Mr. Francis furthered his education by completing a master's degree in information security and assurance from Western Governors University in 2014 and obtained a certificate in business leadership from the same institution in 2024.

The pursuit of industry credentials further defines Mr. Francis's profile, and in 2011, he was proud to gain the designation of certified information systems security professional (CISSP) by ISC2. Mr. Francis has also acquired other industry certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker, Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional, GIAC Security Leadership, Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician, and the GIAC Certified ISO-27000 Specialist. He attributes his success thus far to his problem-solving abilities and the unique experiences, collected throughout his career, that provide Mr. Francis with valuable context and perspective.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Francis seeks opportunities to support civic organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and he volunteers for local food banks and his local community senior center. He also contributed to the (ISC)2 Raleigh Durham chapter as membership chair from 2013 to 2014. In his personal life, he enjoys building customized scavenger hunts for his family, which is reflective of his creativity and desire to engage in meaningful experiences with loved ones.
