During the early stages of his career, Mr. Handal gained valuable industry knowledge as associate general counsel for Altria Group, as a partner with Arnold and Porter, as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Criminal Division, and as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert A. Ainsworth, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Due to his significant knowledge and experience, he has also served as a representative for the United Nations Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland, and for the United Nations Conference on International Crime in Cairo, Egypt. Similarly, Mr. Handal has authored and co-authored numerous articles on governance, risk, compliance, using technology to simplify compliance, and leadership. In the last several years of his career, Mr. Handal gained a reputation for helping companies out of life-threatening legal problems and bringing them back to health.

Mr. Handal's expertise in the field of law is underpinned by his strong educational foundation. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in government from Georgetown University in 1970, and further expanded his knowledge by completing a JD at the University of Chicago Law School, where he served as the managing editor of the law review. His admission to practice through the New York State Bar Association further solidifies his professional qualifications.

Mr. Handal's contributions extend beyond his professional and educational endeavors. He serves as the founding member of the board of advisors for the Hospital for Special Surgery. His role as a board member of the International League for Human Rights and his initiative in founding the pro bono programs at CA Technologies and Altria Group are testament to his commitment to his community.

While Mr. Handal's career is filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in his resilience. Overcoming paralysis caused by polio shortly after his birth, he has gone on to achieve significant milestones.
