WAYNE, NJ, April 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Deputy Chief James D. White has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. White has dedicated over two decades to the Weehawken Police Department, where he has served as deputy chief since 2021. In this role, he effectively functions as the chief of police, overseeing the department's day-to-day operations, including internal affairs, investigative units, counterterrorism, training and administration. His leadership has been instrumental in modernizing the department's systems and processes.

Since becoming captain in 2017, Mr. White has automated various departmental systems, such as scheduling applications, payroll, policy management, body-worn cameras and the drone program. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the Hudson County Regional SWAT team in 2017 and continues to serve on the team, managing logistics and crisis negotiation.

Mr. White's career is marked by his commitment to advancing law enforcement practices. He is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the executive board of the Hudson County Chiefs Association, the National Tactical Officers Association and is a New Jersey law enforcement firearms instructor. These affiliations have provided him with platforms to influence policing standards and share best practices with peers across the nation.

Serving as a foundation for his career, Mr. White obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in administration of justice and sociology in 2000 and graduated as valedictorian from the New Jersey State Chief Police Command and Leadership School. Overall, he attributes much of his success to a strong family support system and a dedicated team within his agency who work tirelessly to ensure both his and the department's success. He also gives credit to his mentors, such as his cousin, who was also deputy chief, and various commanding officers that supported him.

Throughout his career, Mr. White has held various positions that have honed his skills in law enforcement. Prior to becoming deputy chief, he served as internal affairs commander for approximately 12 years, handling cases involving officer misconduct and public complaints. He was also the range master for the police department and has extensive training in tactics and firearms.

Mr. White's distinguished career has garnered numerous awards, such as the Chief Harry Wilde Academic Achievement Award, the 200 Club Valiant Teamwork Award, 9/11 Accommodation Medal, Hudson County Rapid Deployment Force Medal. He has also received eight Honorable Service Medals and an Exceptional Service Medal, among many others.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. White prioritizes spending time with his family, including his three children, and enjoys civic work with Troop 130 of the Boy Scouts of America. Looking ahead professionally, he aims to complete the accreditation process for his agency before retiring. He recently introduced a new training platform system called Vector Solutions to enhance online training and tracking within the department. His primary focus remains on ensuring that the agency achieves accreditation successfully while continuing to uphold high standards of policing excellence.
