Dr. Griffiths counts one of her most notable achievements as the recent initiation and implementation of a clinical trial management system at the University of California, Davis. This groundbreaking project, undertaken in collaboration with the research information technology team within the institution's School of Medicine, represents a significant enterprise-wide effort with an investment exceeding $20 million. The system provides a streamlined platform for investigators and study teams, featuring dashboard metrics that allow institutional leadership to monitor clinical trial management in real time. Dr. Griffiths is humbled to witness how this advancement has enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical trials at the university and how investigators and study teams have come together to embrace change management, continuing to improve workflows and processes.

In 2001, Dr. Griffiths initiated her professional journey as a laboratory research assistant at California State University San Marcos, a title she held through 2005; during this time, she also worked as a research assistant at the UC San Diego Chemosensory Perception Laboratory from 2002 to 2003. Subsequently, she accepted the role of clinical care coordinator at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center from 2005 before transitioning to the rank of associate medical writer at the Neuroscience Education Institute from 2007 to 2009. Later, Dr. Griffiths served as a freelance medical writer for Medscape from 2009 to 2011, and in a concurrent role, she refined her skills as a senior writer and project manager at UC San Diego Continuing Medical Education from 2010 to 2015.

In 2015, Dr. Griffiths was named the research communications director at Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute, UC San Diego, where she thrived through 2021, serving as the main point of contact for center communications, large multi-institutional grant initiatives and annual reporting for the center's Clinical and Translational Science Award through the National Institute of Health National Center for Advancing Translational Science. Dr. Griffiths then joined the UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center in the Clinical Trials Office as the clinical research education program manager. There, she briefly served as acting administrative director in 2022 before assuming her current role.

A passion for continuous learning prompted Dr. Griffiths to pursue academic excellence. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in general psychology from California State University San Marcos in 2002 before earning a Master of Arts in experimental psychology from California State University San Marcos in 2006; additionally, she holds a PhD in health psychology from Walden University, completed in 2013. Dr. Griffiths has also secured distinct certifications that include completion of the program on negotiation from Harvard Law School Executive Education in 2024, and she completed executive leadership programs at UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education in 2022. Dr. Griffiths is currently a member of Chief, an international professional network for women executives.

Dr. Griffiths attributes her success to the foundation set by her parents, particularly her mother who transitioned from nursing to an operational leadership role in health care. This early exposure to the field was influential in shaping her career path. Dr. Griffiths also humbly acknowledges the positive influence of key mentors who have offered robust support throughout her career.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Griffiths remains actively involved in civic service. Through the UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center, she sponsors initiatives with Habitat for Humanity and supports Wellspring Women's Center. She also proudly volunteers at a local wellness center. To achieve balance, she enjoys spending time with her wife and two sons, participating in outdoor hobbies that include paddling, hiking and adventure sports. Looking toward the future, Dr. Griffiths aims to focus on submitting crucial grant renewals at UC Davis that will shape the center's direction by involving the community in research processes and advancing translational science to improve human health overall.
