Additionally, Dr. Karr has been a senior data scientist at Fraunhofer USA Center Mid-Atlantic since 2020.

Dr. Karr's career began with a professorship at Johns Hopkins University from 1973 to 1993, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors in academia and research. He then joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he further honed his expertise from 1993 to 2014. From 2000 to 2014, he served as the director of the National Institute of Statistical Sciences, where he played a pivotal role in advancing complex data analysis methodologies. His tenure as director of the Center of Excellence for Complex Data Analysis at RTI International from 2014 to 2019 further solidified his reputation as a leader in the field.

Throughout his career, Dr. Karr has been recognized for his ability to collaborate with individuals across various disciplines, a skill he attributes to his engineering training. Dr. Karr's academic journey began at Northwestern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering in 1969, a Master of Science in industrial engineering in 1970 and a Doctor of Philosophy in applied mathematics in 1973. These academic achievements have been fundamental to his ability to communicate effectively with professionals from diverse fields and have contributed significantly to his accomplishments. Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Karr is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He founded the Society for Privacy and Confidentiality Research in 2024 and supports cultural institutions such as the English National Opera, Opera Philadelphia, and the Academy of Vocal Arts.
