Mr. Dent's journey in martial arts began in 1993 when he developed an interest in karate at Richard Fike's Madison Combined Martial Arts school. His dedication and skill led him to earn a first-degree black belt in karate and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Mr. Dent's career in combat sports is marked by numerous accolades. With 22 professional MMA victories to his name, he was inducted into the Cleveland Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2024, a testament to his influence and contributions to the field. His competitive spirit and prowess have earned him several championships, including the EFC Lightweight Championship with Extreme Fighting Challenge and multiple titles with the International Fighting & Boxing League and North American Allied Fighting Championship. Additionally, he has been recognized for his performances in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, earning awards such as Fight of the Night against Roger Huerta and Submission of the Night against Cameron Dollar.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Dent has made significant contributions to his community. He serves as a fitness and fighting for self defense only instructor at New Life Christian Academy, sharing his expertise and passion for martial arts with students. His commitment to education and mentorship extends beyond the dojo; he hosted an MMA-oriented radio talk show on WWGK Radio (AM 1540 KNR2) in Cleveland, engaging listeners with insights into the world of mixed martial arts.

Mr. Dent's educational background laid a strong foundation for his career. A graduate of Ledgemont High School, he was introduced to karate during his time there, which sparked his lifelong dedication to martial arts. His early experiences in amateur Muay Thai, supported by Dan Rawling, former owner of GriffonRawl, were pivotal in shaping his path as a martial artist and business owner.

In his personal life, Mr. Dent is dedicated to spending time with his family, including his wife and their child. Looking ahead, he envisions expanding GriffonRawl Combat Sports & Fitness by establishing a second gym or exploring franchising opportunities. He has also dedicated himself to teaching others what he learned in the cage, in the ring and on the mat.
