Dr. Shires is a notable leader in the field of education technology, product, and service strategy. She currently serves as the chief product and service officer at Springboard Collaborative, where since 2023, she has overseen the implementation of product, technology, and service strategies, conducted market and competitive analyses and managed resources to execute roadmap initiatives that deliver educational programs and literacy growth. Dr. Shires credits her keen acumen in portfolio management and team development for her advancement thus far, as well as a strong work ethic.

Before accepting her current appointment, Dr. Shires excelled as the senior vice president of product and technology at Pearson from 2019 to 2023. She collaborated on the production of an extensive library of instructional modules and ingeniously blended learning theory and instructional design to deliver virtual classroom experiences. Dr. Shires led several transformation efforts during her tenure at Pearson including several curriculum development, content architecture, and platform initiatives.

From 2017 to 2019, Dr. Shires held the position of senior director of delivery at Shutterstock. Before that, she served as vice president of transformation and strategy at Pearson from 2014 to 2017. Her career is further defined by a role as the executive director of global product development at Wall Street English from 2007 to 2013, where she refined her skills in global product strategies. During her tenure at Wall Street English, she achieved a significant milestone by developing a comprehensive learning experience for adults studying English as a second language (ESL), an initiative that included the creation of 20 different levels of ESL courses, the creation of a global community, a digital classroom, and learning services. This course was honored with the Best Digital Education Series Impact Award from the Internet Marketing Association in 2015.

Additionally, Dr. Shires thrived as the assistant director of project management at Baltimore County Public Library from 2001 to 2007 where her love for lifelong learning and passion for digital services was born.

That passion for lifelong learning prompted Dr. Shires to pursue academic excellence. In 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in geography and environmental systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County before pursuing graduate studies. She now holds a Master of Science in information systems from the same institution, which she completed in 2007, and an EdD in curriculum and instruction from Liberty University, dating to 2024.

Dr. Shires has received ample recognition for her many contributions. She was named among the Top 10 Visionary Leaders in Education Technology by TimeIconic in 2025. She was named among the Top 50 Chief Product Officers by Women We Admire in 2024 and one of the Top Chief Product Officers by Products That Count in 2023.

Outside her professional life, Dr. Shires cherishes spending time with her family. Her future plans reflect her abiding passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on others' lives through innovative educational solutions. To this end, Dr. Shires aspires to launch her own business to provide consulting services for parents of students with special needs and dreams, and advocate for family engagement as a standard practice in K12 schools.
