Ms. Kraninger's career trajectory includes significant roles in government service. As the Senate-confirmed director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2018 to 2021, she carried out the agency's mission overseeing consumer financial protection laws and regulations. From 2017 to 2018, she was the program associate director for general government at the Office of Management and Budget. Her earlier experience as a clerk for the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations from 2013 to 2017 and as a professional staff member for the House Committee on Appropriations from 2011 to 2013 provided her with a deep understanding of legislative process and budgetary considerations.

Ms. Kraninger's foundational years were marked by impactful contributions at the Sentinel HS Group LLC as senior director from 2009 to 2011 and at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where she held dual titles of screening coordination director and deputy assistant secretary for policy from 2006 to 2009. From 2004 to 2006, she was a professional staff member with the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, followed by a position as policy advisor to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security secretary. She began her career in 2001, serving in various capacities at the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Ms. Kraninger's education has been instrumental in her ability to navigate complex legal and policy environments effectively. She earned a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 2007 and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and education from Marquette University in 1997.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Kraninger is actively involved in civic organizations. She has served on the board of Habitat for Humanity Florida since 2024 and has been part of the Fintech Advisory Council at the Milken Institute since 2021. She has also been an ex officio member and fellow of the Financial Data Exchange since 2021. Her commitment to public service is further exemplified by her volunteer work with the Peace Corps in Ukraine from 1997 to 1999. Her contributions have been recognized with awards such as Young Alumni of the Year from Marquette University in 2014 and the Meritorious Public Service Award from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2009.

Ms. Kraninger's most significant achievement lies in her invaluable experiences with transformation. One of the most impactful moments in her career occurred early on during her tenure at the Department of Transportation in the aftermath of 9/11. The world changed dramatically that day, and she became deeply involved in establishing the nation's security framework.
