From 1980 to 1995, he held various positions that laid the foundation for his extensive expertise in nuclear operations. A dedication to excellence and innovation marked his work during this period, and he contributed significantly to the company's success.

Dr. Shoemaker's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in physics from Thomas More University in 1979, followed by a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky in 1980. He furthered his education with a Master of Science in organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2012 and culminated with an EdD in organizational leadership from the same institution in 2022. These academic achievements have shaped his career, giving him the knowledge and skills to lead effectively.

Dr. Shoemaker's professional certifications include a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in 2005 and several certifications from the National Academy for Nuclear Training, including INPO instructor and facilitator certifications in 2003 and INPO event investigation certification in 2002. He was also recognized as a Distinguished Toastmaster by Toastmasters International in 2013. These credentials underscore his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Dr. Shoemaker is also actively involved in several industry-related organizations, such as the Golden Key International Honor Society, the Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society, the Project Management Institute, and the American Nuclear Society, where he is a lifetime member. His past membership with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers further highlights his dedication to professional growth.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Shoemaker is deeply engaged in civic activities. He serves as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Burnt Hickory Baptist Church and contributes to community welfare through organizations like the Atlanta Food Bank and the Salvation Army. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including being named a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky in 2022 and receiving multiple accolades from the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.

In his personal life, Dr. Shoemaker enjoys spending time with family, photography, teaching the Bible, biking, yard work and gardening.
