Ds. Smith has dedicated over five decades to education, currently serving as the educator and head of schools at Llano Christian Academy in Llano, Texas, since 2011. In her multifaceted role, she is both principal and teacher, instructing kindergarten through twelfth grade in Bible and physical education, music and leading a yearbook class. Her responsibilities extend beyond teaching, as she observes teachers and manages paperwork. Dr. Smith is committed to maintaining a 10:1 student-teacher ratio and ensuring the academy's accreditation with the Association of Christian Schools International.

Before joining the academy, Dr. Smith was a superintendent in Fayette County, Texas, from 2006 to 2010. In this capacity, she performed educational administrative tasks, implementing policies and programs that enhanced the quality of education. Before her tenure as superintendent, she served as an administrative assistant at Huffman Independent School District between 2000 and 2006.

Dr. Smith's career began in the classroom as a teacher at Huffman Elementary School in 1980 before moving on to Huffman Junior High School. She later became principal at an elementary school in Flatonia, Texas, and then at Alice Johnson Junior High School in Channelview, Texas and Crosby Middle School in Crosby, Texas. Her extensive experience in various educational roles has contributed significantly to her academic leadership and teaching expertise.

In preparation for her career, Dr. Smith became highly educated. In 1980, she obtained a Bachelor of Science from East Texas Baptist University. She then received a master's degree in general education in 1981 and a second master's degree in administration in 1992 from Stephen F. Austin State University. Furthermore, Dr. Smith earned a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and administration from Nova Southeastern University in 1995. Besides her degrees, Dr. Smith is a certified life coach through the Coaching Alliance and a certified special education teacher through the state.

A respected member of the educational community, Dr. Smith is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Association of Christian Schools International. Her commitment to education is further demonstrated by her role as a guest speaker, sharing her insights and experiences with others in the field. Actively involved in civic activities, Dr. Smith has been a volunteer for the First Baptist Church in Llano.

Dr. Smith's contributions to the community have been recognized with several awards, such as Teacher of the Year in 2012 and Citizen of the Year in Llano in 2015. Looking ahead, she plans to write a book about building private Christian schools through public-private partnerships and continue working with young adults as a life coach after they graduate from college.
