Prior to his current role, Mr. Burks served as the executive managing director and chief executive officer of WG Consulting from 2012 to 2022. Before establishing SVG Advisors, he served as chief financial officer of Superior Offshore from 2006 to 2008.

Mr. Burks' career began with Touche Ross in audit practice before joining Deloitte in 1982. At Deloitte, he became an audit partner and partner in charge of energy practice for the Gulf Coast, serving until 2002. He then co-founded a financial SOX and technology-based consulting firm, where he was a managing partner until 2006. Mr. Burks' dedication to his profession is reflected in his membership with Financial Executive International and many others.

In recognition of his contributions to the field, Mr. Burks received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Houston Chapter of CPAs in 2020. Mr. Burks' educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State University, which he obtained in 1981. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Burks currently serves on various boards.
