As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Captain Zola has established a distinguished career for himself in marine operations, currently serving as an offshore installation manager, master and captain at Noble Corporation, a position he has held since 2012. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing a 70,000-ton ship with a crew of nearly 200, managing drilling operations and providing worldwide service for various oil companies. Captain Zola is a member of the Marine Society of New York and the Boston Marine Society, and he takes pride in being a good listener, someone who has empathy and can make a team of diverse personalities work together efficiently. Day to day, his responsibilities include managing the daily and annual capital budget of the rig and representing Noble's core business values and safety management system.

Prior to his tenure at Noble, Captain Zola was a master and ship captain at Sealift Inc. between 2004 and 2012. During that period, he commanded general cargo and container ships on international routes, honing his leadership skills and maritime knowledge. Leading up to that role, his earlier experience as a project manager at Ocean Technical Services Inc. from 2001 to 2007 provided him with valuable insights into the technical aspects of marine operations.

Captain Zola's career began with roles that laid a strong foundation for his future achievements. From 1998 to 2003, he served as chief officer and second officer on the school training ship at the State University of New York Maritime College while attending graduate school. This experience allowed him to blend academic learning with practical maritime skills. Additionally, he worked as a second mate at Sealift Inc. in 2003 and held positions as first officer and third officer at Transoceanic Cable Ship Company from 1995 to 1997. His initial role as third mate at U.S. Marine Management Inc. in 1993 marked the beginning of his professional journey.

Along with his hands-on experience, Captain Zola's educational background has been instrumental in his success. He earned a Master of Science in international transportation from the State University of New York Maritime College in 2004, following a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a focus on marine transportation from the same institution in 1993. Together, these academic achievements provided him with a comprehensive understanding of both the business and operational aspects of maritime industries.

Throughout his career, Captain Zola has been recognized for his contributions to the field, receiving the Marine Society of New York Award. He is also actively involved with civic-minded organizations, serving as a donor to his alma mater's alumni association. In reflecting on the keys to his success, Captain Zola places great importance on family values, which have been a guiding principle throughout his life and career. Looking ahead, he aims to continue mentoring and guiding the next generation of deck and engine officers, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with aspiring maritime professionals.
