LOS ANGELES, CA, May 30, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Asaad Y. Alnajjar, PE, 2026 candidate for Los Angeles Mayor, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Since 1989, Mr. Alnajjar has progressed through key roles as a City of Los Angeles employee, culminating in his current position as senior engineering manager. He has been an integral member of the team responsible for designing and building metro transportation trains, light rail and underground transit systems. His expertise in multi-civil engineering structural work has been pivotal in the ongoing efforts to upgrade the city's infrastructure in preparation for the 2028 Olympics. Mr. Alnajjar's role involves managing permits for new construction, setting strategies, attending to repairs, collaborating with mobile operators to install equipment and hardware, and addressing sustainability issues in collaboration with the mayor's office.

Mr. Alnajjar has maintained involvement with City Hall for more than 35 years. Additionally, his career is marked by significant entrepreneurial ventures. In 2001, he co-founded VoEx Inc. and served as its chief strategy officer until 2006 when it was rebranded to IntelePeer Inc. In 2003, he co-founded VoEx International LLC and has remained with the company since as its president and chief strategy officer. His entrepreneurial spirit extends to Volo International Inc., where he served as co-founder and chief evangelist officer from 2013 to 2017, and to Millennium Inc., where he was the chief executive officer and founder from 1986 to 2016.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Alnajjar is an active member of industry-related organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Concrete Institute. His dedication to civic engagement is reflected in his role as an elected board member of the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council from 2016 to 2027. His contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including multiple listings in the International Who's Who of Professionals and Who's Who Publishing.

Mr. Alnajjar's educational background laid a strong foundation for his career accomplishments. He earned a Master of Science in Civil and Structural Engineering with a minor in construction management from the University of Southern California USC in Los Angeles in 1989, following a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in hydraulics from the same institution in 1987. His academic achievements are complemented by his CALGreen Inspector and Plans Examiner certification from Canvas Credentials, obtained in 2023, and a professional engineer certification from the California Board for Professional Engineers, acquired in 1993.

Mr. Alnajjar's family played a crucial role in shaping his career path. Raised in an environment where his relatives worked primarily in medicine and construction, he found inspiration in the latter, leading him to pursue civil engineering studies in Los Angeles. Seeing his designs transition from two-dimensional drawings to completed buildings or underground systems gives him a profound sense of accomplishment.

Mr. Alnajjar's most notable achievement was his involvement in refurbishing the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the early 1990s in preparation for the Democratic National Convention events in Los Angeles. He later addressed lighting issues at LAX and designed the lighting system for the tunnel under the LAX runway, a project that received recognition and funding from Washington, D.C. This project featured significant LED innovations, including advanced remote monitoring and control technology for dimming and on/off controls.

Currently, Mr. Alnajjar is part of the engineering team finalizing the people mover project, which includes trains that will transport passengers to and from the airport, similar to the train system at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Additionally, he is part of the design team for all train systems, including the train to the ocean and the underground train, which has been operational for nearly 26 years. He is responsible for overseeing the extension of this train service, set to be completed by July 2027. Another significant aspect of his work is the upgrade of 187,000 streetlights to LED and installing solar panels on these lights to feed energy back into the grid.

In line with his 35 years of civil service, 25 years of involved community volunteer work, which includes completing community emergency response team (CERT) training with the Los Angeles Fire Department, his work on the Los Angeles Police Department civilian advisory board, and his professional life, Mr. Alnajjar harbors challenging aspirations of winning the June 2, 2026 Los Angeles Mayoral race while preparing the city for an exceptional 2028 Olympic Games experience. Should he not succeed in this political endeavor, he may consider pursuing a congressional seat, reflecting his ongoing commitment to public service and civic improvement.
