Her career spans five decades, during which she has proudly made important contributions to the healthcare industry, and she currently serves as the principal of Age Consulting LLC, a position she has held since 2021. In this role, Ms. Grumbly relies on experience earned as the executive director of Care Options from 2006 to 2016, a pivotal point in her career as it marked her transition into an administrative role. Notably, Ms. Grumbly excelled in this capacity, becoming a part-owner and enhancing the company's reputation in the Washington metropolitan area by establishing a house calls program for nurse practitioners.

Ms. Grumbly's earlier career included roles in home health care and hospice services, through which she recognized and elevated her leadership acumen. From 2004 to 2006, she worked with Professional Healthcare Resources, and from 2002 to 2004, she was affiliated with Vail Valley Home Health and Hospice. She initiated her career in nursing as a case manager and weekend manager at VNA of Northern Virginia from 1987 to 1997 after transitioning from a focus on anthropology in college, a decision that better resonated with her personality and professional aspirations.

Impressive academic credentials further define Ms. Grumbly's presence in the field. She holds a Bachelor of Science in anthropology from American University, completed in 1973, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University, which she finished in 1987. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Science in Nursing as an adult nurse practitioner from The Catholic University of America in 2002. In addition to her formal education, Ms. Grumbly is certified as a case manager by The Commission for Case Manager Certification from 2013 to 2023, a designation that reflects her deep commitment to providing comprehensive care management services and highlights her dedication to professional development.

Ms. Grumbly recognizes the mentors who supported her throughout her career, including Ann O'Neill, who was a pioneer in the field of geriatric care management and influential in her recognition of the need for specialized geriatric nursing due to the aging baby boom generation. Ms. Grumbly also maintains a broad network of colleagues through sustained involvement with the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the Aging Life Care Association, where Ms. Grumbly has served as vice president and then president during her tenure with Care Options.

The pursuit of opportunities for civic service remains an important priority for Ms. Grumbly. She volunteers as a nurse at Summit County Care Clinic and Arlington Free Clinic and participates with Meals on Wheels of Boulder. Additionally, she serves on the board of the Dementia Committee at the Rotary Club of Boulder and volunteers at her local church. Ms. Grumbly also co-authored "How to Develop a Self-Directed Work Group," further exemplifying her commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering collaborative work environments.

Ms. Grumbly's personal interests include gardening, hiking and enjoying nature, which reflects a holistic approach to life and work. Looking toward the future, she plans to focus on community volunteer work, particularly with food banks and Meals on Wheels programs.
