Prior to her current position, Ms. Thornburg amassed extensive experience in the banking sector. From 2015 to 2019, she served as vice president and commercial lender at The First, A National Banking Association and served as a business banking officer for the preceding five years at PNC Bank. Earlier roles included private banking at RBC and branch management at AmSouth Bank. Throughout these roles, spanning twenty-six years of banking, investments and insurance, she has been recognized for her ability to manage complex financial portfolios and foster strong client relationships.

Ms. Thornburg laid a strong educational background for her professional achievements, earning a bachelor's degree in business and finance with a focus on animal sciences from Auburn University in 1992. Complementing her classroom education, she is a certified travel industry specialist from Indiana University Indianapolis. She has furthered her expertise as a current board member of the American Bus Association since 2025, ABA Foundation Board of Directors since 2021, Trailways Board of Directors and Executive Committee since 2022 and remaining affiliated with the United Motorcoach Association and the Alabama Motorcoach Association.

Ms. Thornburg's contributions to her industry have not gone unnoticed; she has received several accolades throughout her career. She was honored with the Inaugural Women in Buses Award by Bus Line Magazine and has been recognized by the Million Dollar Club at both AmSouth Bank and RBC Bank. Additionally, she was named one of the "40 Over 40 Women" by Mobile and Baldwin County, Alabama, highlighting her influence and impact within her community.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Ms. Thornburg is actively involved in civic organizations, such as Impact 100 Baldwin County, where she has served as past president, board of directors' member, committee member and focus group member since 2015. Her commitment to community service aligns with her personal values of integrity and a work-life balance. Overall, she attributes her success to drive and motivation instilled in her from a young age, recognizing the influence of both of her hardworking parents, and especially the strength and grit of her mother. Outside of work, Ms. Thornburg cherishes time spent with her husband and their blended family of seven children and two grandchildren. She enjoys gardening and outdoor activities as hobbies. She is particularly proud of her own four children, who now own Capital and Colonial Trailways of Alabama as a family business, operational for five generations since 1930.
