Mr. Dougherty has cultivated a distinguished career spanning 45 years, marked by significant contributions to various industries and education. Currently, he serves as the managing director of DPDOUGHERTY, LLC., a role he has held since 2008. His leadership and strategic vision have been instrumental in steering the company and his clients toward success. Additionally, he has shared his expertise as a faculty lecturer in Graduate Executive Education (EMBA) program at the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville since 2018, where he focuses on leadership development through leadership assessments and leadership coaching for EMBA candidates. He has also served as a faculty lecturer in the university's undergraduate Management and Entrepreneurship Department, teaching the required foundational Introduction to Business Management course for business majors.

From 2000 to 2008, Mr. Dougherty served as a senior principal in global management consulting services at PRTM (now PwC), where he refined his skills in guiding organizations through complex transformations. Previously, he served as a principal at Capgemini from 1992 to 1999, where he contributed to the delivery of global management consulting services. During this time, Mr. Dougherty served as interim CEO of an energy storage start-up company and as CEO of a newly launched telecommunications company in Mexico competing with the incumbent national carrier. Both firms were facing significant transitional challenges during critical growth periods. He has extensive international experience having lived and worked in Australia, Norway, and Italy. He has gained significant international insight working in a total of 10 countries and territories including Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Finland, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Overall, Mr. Dougherty has spent time in 25 different countries.

His earlier career included roles such as managing director of Paragon Group from 1990 to 1992 and as senior director and division manager of technology strategy at Ameritech, a local exchange carrier under AT&T, from 1988 to 1990.

Prior to his current roles, Mr. Dougherty was affiliated with Maine Pointe and Catalyft consulting firms from 2018 to 2019, where he served as a business operations consultant and senior manager for enterprise excellence, respectively. His tenure at Virtusa, from 2014 to 2017, as senior director of business consulting and North America sector lead for CMIE (Communications, Media, Internet & Entertainment), further solidified his reputation as a leader in business strategy and management consulting.

Mr. Dougherty's career began in the telecommunications industry with United Telecom, which later became Sprint Communications. From 1980 to 1988, he was a group marketing manager at Sprint, playing a pivotal role in product development and launching the first product under the new Sprint brand. This foundational experience set the stage for his future endeavors across various sectors.

Mr. Dougherty holds an MBA in finance and executive management from Rockhurst University, earned in 1982, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics Degree from Regis University, completed in 1975. His Jesuit education has profoundly influenced his approach to leadership and decision-making. He attributes much of his success to the support of mentors like Dr. Norbert A. Roughton, the chairman of the physics department at Regis University during his college years, and Mohamed Kande, currently Global Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) International during his professional career. He graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1971, a Jesuit institution.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Dougherty has been actively involved in civic organizations, including the Men's Health Task Force with the American Cancer Society. He served as vice president of programs for the Homeowners Association of Tellico Village. He also contributed to the Legal Advocacy Task Force for the East Tennessee ICF Chapter of the International Coaching Federation and volunteers as a respite provider for Smoky Mountain Service Dogs, training and providing support dogs to disabled veterans.

In addition to his civic engagements, Mr. Dougherty has contributed to publications like "Turmoil at Its Best: Emerging Opportunities in Optical Networking" for Telephony Magazine. Looking ahead, he plans to continue his work in executive education while supporting students and clients across multiple industries including, aerospace and defense, supply chain, physicians, healthcare and strategic leadership. His passion for teaching motorcycle riding and safety, scuba diving, and flying, as well as his volunteer activities, reflects his commitment to lifelong learning and community service.
