Mr. Mazuroski has dedicated over three decades to his profession, demonstrating a profound commitment to international development and community service. His career began with a contract from the Nigerian government, where he worked with fisheries on Lake Chad. This experience sparked his passion for international development, prompting him to pursue further education and ultimately focus on creating a global impact.
As an independent consultant for Maine-based companies since 2024, Mr. Mazuroski has leveraged his extensive expertise in contract management, third-party monitoring, and program evaluations. His role follows his tenure as a park ranger with the Bureau of Parks and Lands at the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, from 2023 to 2024.
Mr. Mazuroski's extensive background dates back to 2001, when he became a deputy chief of party (DCOP) at the Urban Institute. He subsequently served as a DCOP and chief of party (COP) for numerous other organizations, including CHF International (Now Global Communities), Checchi and Company Consulting, Inc. (Now Dexis Consulting Group), International Business & Technical Consultants Inc., DT Global and Bixal. Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Mazuroski served as a technical director and technical advisor at Checchi and Company Consulting, Inc. (Now Dexis Consulting Group) and DAI, respectively.
Mr. Mazuroski's academic journey laid a strong foundation for his career. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology and economics from the University of New England, followed by a Master of Arts in biology and fisheries from Long Island University. These academic achievements equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary for his subsequent roles in project management and international development.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mazuroski has received numerous awards for excellent project management. His most notable achievement was successfully facilitating the relocation of approximately 60 former Afghan employees to the U.S., where they have become citizens and are thriving with their families. This accomplishment highlights his commitment to empowering individuals and promoting positive change.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Mazuroski is actively involved in civic organizations and community service. He volunteers with local organizations and charities and contributes his time to the Waldo County Wood Shed. His commitment to community service reflects his belief in empowering others and holding them accountable for their decisions.
Looking ahead, Mr. Mazuroski aspires to become a Peace Corps country director, where he hopes to influence initiatives and work being done within the organization. His ability to listen, mentor others and hold them accountable has been instrumental in his success and will undoubtedly continue to guide him in future endeavors.
