FORT WORTH, TX, December 05, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The DFW Car & Toy Museum is proud to present a delightful piece of mid-century motoring history: a 1957 Nash Metropolitan Hardtop, beautifully finished in Sunburst Yellow and Snowberry White, and now part of The Ron Sturgeon Collection.
This particular Metropolitan is more than just a cheerful classic—it's a survivor with a story. Owned by the same individual for nearly four decades, it underwent a careful refurbishment in the 1990s, during which it was repainted in its original two-tone factory colors and reupholstered to match the period-correct black and white houndstooth cloth and vinyl interior.
Under the hood, the Metropolitan is powered by a 1.5-liter Austin B-Series inline-four, equipped with a single Zenith downdraft carburetor, delivering 52 horsepower and 77 lb-ft of torque—plenty of pep for city cruising. A column-shifted three-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, adding to the nostalgic driving experience.
Despite its compact size, the Metropolitan made a big splash when it debuted in the 1950s. It was marketed as a second car for suburban families—ideal for short trips, errands, and daily drives—and became one of the earliest American-designed cars built in Europe (by Austin in the UK) and sold in the U.S.
"The Nash Metropolitan is as fun as it is historic," says Ron Sturgeon, owner of the DFW Car & Toy Museum. "With its pastel paint, retro charm, and compact design, it's impossible not to smile when you see it in person."
Metropolitans like this one are increasingly rare, especially in such well-preserved conditions. Don't miss your chance to see this sunny symbol of 1950s Americana up close.
