For over four decades, Ms. Callahan has built a reputation as someone who brings people together to solve problems. A distinguished professional in her field, Ms. Callahan was most recently a consultant and project manager at netlogx, LLC, where she dedicated the past decade to state government and healthcare IT initiatives. Since assuming this position in 2014, her work has primarily focused on improving home and community-based services for aging and disabled populations. She works closely with state governments to understand their challenges and champions enhanced resources and support by implementing solutions that strengthen services in communities, particularly for individuals with disabilities and the elderly.
Prior to this, Ms. Callahan played a pivotal role across the healthcare, technology, and manufacturing sectors. At the Indiana Health Information Exchange (2010-2014), she led product management efforts that strengthened infrastructure and increased data integration for Indiana hospitals, the Social Security Administration and the Veterans' Administration, contributing to the advancement of health information technology. As the director of operations at KnowError/Diagnostic ID, LLC (2009-2010), Ms. Callahan streamlined specimen collection kit building and kit intake for use in DNA identification, while as an independent consultant for SonarMed, Inc. (2008-2010), she co-authored a successful FDA 510(k) submission for a life-saving medical device used in neonatal care—a highlight of her career. Her professional journey also includes roles as a director of sales operations at ANGEL Learning in 2008 and an operations project manager at Disetronic Medical Systems for the preceding two years, having been a consultant to Disetronic and its parent company, Roche Diagnostics, since 2002. During her time there, Ms. Callahan led projects to bring the Roche Indianapolis division into HIPAA compliance, and led the many projects involved in creating Disetronic's quality management system, validating their software systems, building an in-house pharmacy, and redesigning their sales operations systems and software. Reflecting on her career, Ms. Callahan is most proud of bringing people together to achieve great things.
Ms. Callahan's extensive experience is marked by trailblazing moments and pioneering achievements. She was the first female advanced manufacturing engineer for Skil Power Tools (1987-1997), the first female director of market research and forecasting at Skil, and the first female product manager at Skil, leading production implementation of products like the first cordless Dremel® Mototool. At Sunbeam Appliance Company (1985-1987), Ms. Callahan introduced automated assembly techniques. At Boeing (1980-1985), she helped build the very first 757 and 767 aircraft and worked on the groundbreaking introduction of advanced composite materials and CAD/CAM applications into manufacturing. At Covance Central Clinical Laboratories (1997-2001), she was the first director of forecasting, creating forecasting models with high degrees of accuracy, and the first female director of operations, overseeing the launch of the first automated specimen kit assembly line—still considered the industry gold standard today.
Ms. Callahan's academic credentials include a Master of Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 1993 and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, majoring in international economics from Georgetown University in 1979. Overall, she attributes her success to curiosity, collaboration, technical competence, and remaining grounded in the details. Ms. Callahan emphasizes the power of working together and fostering cooperation, especially when team members have competing viewpoints.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Callahan is equally committed to her community. She has been deeply involved in autism advocacy, working with policy makers and educators to develop effective programs for children with autism and other special needs, to improve educational support within her community. Ms. Callahan prioritizes family activities and creative pursuits, including making costumes for community theater productions, oil painting, reading, and knitting.
