In this capacity, he leveraged his extensive experience in event services to enhance the company's market presence. Before joining CORT, he held the position of vice president and general manager at Arenson in the New York City area, where he managed rental operations and strategic initiatives.

Mr. McClernon's tenure as president and chief executive officer of SmartSource Rentals from 2009 to 2014 was marked by his adept crisis management skills. He successfully navigated the company through the 2008 financial crisis, retaining most employees and working to prepare the company for rapid emergence from the business downturn. After this recession, he moved quickly to rebuild the company's market and position, rapidly regaining lost revenue and actively participating in the resurgence of the technology rental and event services spaces. The board recognized his leadership for preserving the company's core functions during challenging times. Before this role, he served as senior vice president at SmartSource from 2003 to 2009, following the acquisition of All Service Computer Rental, where he had been president from 2000 to 2003. In this role, he successfully guided All Service through the deep downturn in the NYC business market following 9/11.

Mr. McClernon's early career in the medical field laid a strong foundation for his later achievements. From 1990 to 1995, he worked as a product manager for enteral and parenteral nutrition, as well as a regional sales manager at NMC Healthcare in Boston, Massachusetts. He began his professional journey as a senior sales executive at Caremark Home Healthcare and at Johnson and Johnson Dental Products. At both companies he was nationally recognized for sales success.

Mr. McClernon's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and philosophy from Rockhurst University, where he graduated cum laude. He is a member of Rockhurst's Alumni Hall of Fame. His broad, general education has been pivotal in shaping his ability to relate to diverse individuals and navigate complex situations. Additionally, he holds several certifications, including Certified Senior Adviser from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors and a Dementia Care Certification from Dementia Care Education.

Throughout his career, Mr. McClernon has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Gold Level Franchise Award from Assisted Living Locators, the Platinum Top Advisor Award by Seniorly in 2025, and inclusion in Inc. Magazine's Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America in 2013. He also contributed creatively as an above the title producer for the Godspell Revival on Broadway in 2011.

In his personal life, Mr. McClernon is supported by his partner, Liz.
