Prior to her current positions, Dr. Sumaili served as a medical doctor at Albany Area Primary Health Care from 2015 to 2025 and held the position of assistant medical director at Integrity Hospice concurrently from 2017 to 2023. Her early career was marked by her role as a family medicine resident at Phoebe Putney Health System from 2012 to 2015, where she was recognized with several awards, including Resident of the Year and Chief Resident.

Dr. Sumaili's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Kennesaw State University, where she graduated cum laude in 2006. She then pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science in basic science at the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine, followed by earning her Doctor of Medicine from Xavier University School of Medicine in 2010. Her postgraduate residency at Phoebe Health System further honed her expertise in family medicine.

Complementing her formal education, Dr. Sumaili holds a board certification in family medicine and various technical certifications, such as hyperbaric chamber technician and phlebotomy certifications obtained in 2008. She is currently pursuing a functional medicine certification to expand her holistic approach to patient care.

Beyond her medical career, Dr. Sumaili is deeply committed to community service and advocacy. She founded NEEMA in 2021, a nonprofit organization supporting widows and orphans in West Africa through donations and educational programs. This work is close to her heart as she herself is an immigrant from Kenya. Her dedication to community empowerment is evident in her plans to offer coaching and training classes to educate individuals about their health.

In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Sumaili is actively involved with the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, serving on various committees and boards since 2022. Her accolades include numerous academic awards and honors from Kennesaw State University and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency.
